Course Curriculum Breakdown

Throughout this 200-hour training, you will build a deep understanding of the foundations that support transformative asana practice. There will be a focus on the following foundational principles:

- 20 hours In-Class, 10 Home-Study

We emphasize the importance of alignment to effectively and safely practice yoga. We provide you with the practical and accessible knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and basic bio mechanics necessary to be an effective instructor. You will gain an understanding of anatomy to work with students on proper alignment to safely practice with their unique anatomy. Importantly you will learn when to limit your advice and encourage students to seek additional help in the medical community. It is here that you learn how to work with the body in asana and the importance of being aware of contraindications and how to avoid the risk of injury with confidence.

- 20 Hours In-Class, 10 Home-Study

To call a practice yoga rather than just calisthenics, there are certain scientific, philosophical and traditional requirements. After completing this course you will know what makes what you practice and teach yoga and how it connects to the system as laid out in the ancient philosophical texts. We’ve created a user-friendly application of the yoga philosophy that transforms physical poses into a moving meditation to develop the mind-body connection. Learning how to find your own authentic truth, peace and limitless potential and to lead students on their journey requires a fundamental understanding of the 8 limbs and the foundational philosophy of the classical yoga texts.

– 30 hours

A solid understanding of yoga, anatomy, alignment and philosophy will help you find peace and a deeper practice in your own life. Applying this knowledge in a public class requires skills in planning, communication and classroom management strategies. We will teach you our specific methodology for planning and delivering powerful classes to your students in ways that inspire and engage students on and off their mat. We work with intelligent sequencing, commanding use of language and techniques for holding space to create an experience for your students that will keep them coming back to your class and help them discover the benefits of yoga off the mat.

- 75 hours

These tightly-focused, themed practices will be held on each training day, the details of each type of asana and breathwork are studied. You will explore meditation techniques and the subtle body. You will discover how the practice feels, experience your own challenges and triumphs, and become better prepared to teach people how to navigate their own yoga journey.

- 20 hours

You will be required to teach a class in order to graduate, which will be observed by our faculty and followed with constructive feedback. This will be your opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills you have developed over the course of the training in a live classroom setting. Completion of all classroom hours, all practicum hours, passing the final exam and final sign off from the lead faculty instructor are prerequisite to leading this class.

– 15 HOURS

Independent Study will be time spent on specific in-depth work outside of the classroom. This may include additional reading in yoga philosophy, it may include assisting faculty led public classes with alignment, additional study in specific areas of anatomy, subtle body, meditation or other aspect of the practice. The nature of this study and learning objectives will be determined with the assistance and approval of the master faculty instructor during the first 2 weeks of the training. With these tools, graduates can teach confidently and creatively in their own unique voice while staying true to the deep purpose of yoga practice.

Graduation Requirements

To graduate this course and receive certification you must attain the following:

  1. Attendance Policy: One-hundred percent attendance or authorized make-up is required. If you miss a class, you may make it up in a future or concurrent training for no cost or you may hire a Red Diamond Yoga faculty member to teach a private lesson at their regular rate for such. In some cases, a missed class can be made up with a special assignment.

  2. Teaching: There will be practice teaching throughout the course however at the end, you must teach a well-rounded flow class to your peers, the sequence for which will be written by you. This teaching final will occur the last weekend of the training and you will be provided the grading assessment in the syllabus.

  3. Anatomy Assessment: This happens at the end of the course. The exam covers the content of the training. All of the information you need to pass the exam is contained in the course materials. If any section is failed, its remediation will be decided by the lead trainer at the time.

  4. Philosophy Assessment:This happens at the end of the course. In contrast to the anatomy exam, the questions asked are provided ahead of time.

At Red Diamond Yoga we offer a transformational journey to the self through the physical work of the asana practice. Asana is just one of the 8 limbs and a deeper understanding of this ancient wisdom will inspire you both on and off the mat and change your life in ways you cannot imagine. Learn how the asana practice affects the movements of the mind, how to become the witness of your thoughts, let go of what doesn’t serve you and believe in your limitless potential. Find your voice, connect deeply to your practice, and transform the way you see the world in this well rounded 200-hour program. You will leave with an enhanced perspective and the tools necessary to teach public classes should you chose that path. Above all you will embark on a life long journey of exploration, learning, and fulfillment that is the practice of yoga.

Meet the teachers

Laetitia Guyot

Laetitia received her 200-hours Yoga Alliance certification in Venice Beach, California, including prenatal, therapeutic and restorative yoga.

She started practicing yoga to heal and relax her own body from Martial arts competitions. She immediately fell in love, decided to give more space to yoga in her life and eventually became a teacher!

Laetitia later decided to deepen her knowledge in therapeutic yoga and obtain a ‘Yoga for Cancer’ certification in New York allowing her to work with cancer patients and survivors.

She teaches to share a passion and help people to find their inner peace and joy.

In a fast-paced world, through a dynamic Vinyasa flow, she invites her students to practice compassion, stillness and to focus on breathing. Vinyasa means "breath-synchronized movement," and Vinyasa yoga is a series of poses that will move you through the power of inhaling and exhaling. Vinyasa movements are smoothly flowing and almost dance-like. As a martial artist you will sometimes see her adding a little bit of it into her classes!
